I'm reading (for the umpteenth time) Nora Roberts's Born In Shame. I was going to use Born In Fire as an example for a workshop I'm giving. It doesn't really work, but I got sucked in anyway. (I'm using The Cinderella Deal instead -- the workshop is on world-building and TCD is perfect...)

I am listening to TCD in the car.  The audio books always give me a different slant on the book.

The Wednesday Letters, by Jason F. Wright. This one makes me cry. Only started it yesterday, but it's a fast read. I put it aside to watch the Oscar's last night but can't get it out of my mind, I should be through my weeping by this afternoon. : 0

I'm currently reading The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot. The description on Borders.com sums it up very well:

Quote
Skloot brilliantly weaves together the story of Henrietta Lacks--a woman whose cells have been unwittingly used for scientific research since the 1950s--with the birth of bioethics, and the dark history of experimentation on African Americans.

What it doesn't say is how compelling the book is. I'm devouring it.

I'm sort of waffling between books. I finished The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks and just haven't been able to settle down to anything. I'm supposed to read The Help because a friend of my mine wants my take on it, and I'm just resisting it. (I think because I'll have to read thoughtfully, and I'm not in the mood for anything demanding.)

I'm reading Wild Ride-- or listening, anyway.  It's now available on audible.com and the reader is pretty good.  I'm so happy!

Out of Captivity, by Gonsalves etc. It's told by three men, of five and a half years of their lives being held in captivity by the FARC's in Colombia, and spans the years of 2003 through 2008, when they finally got saved.
It deals with survival and learning of hidden strengths, and how those years changed their outlook on life and themselves. Very slow at times but hard to put down.

Rereading Dogs and Goddesses while waiting for my copy of Wild Ride to arrive. I'm also Reading The Russian Concubine by Kate Furnivall, set in China in 1929. Beatifully writen, but I suspect there's no HEA.
